About Lebork

Town Profile

The town of Lêbork lies in an ancient dale between rivers Łeba and Reda, on south bordering with the hills of Kashubian Lake District, which is a part of East-Pomeranian Lake District, whilst on south it borders with ¯arnowiec’s plateau. Lebork’s area is 18 square kilometres inhabited by around 37 thousand of citizens. Lêbork is the capitol of administrative district, which comprises following rural communities: Nowa Wieœ Lêborska, Wicko and Cewice and two municipal communities: Lêbork and Łeba.

The town of Lêbork has very convenient transport linkages, as it lies next to international car route E28 From Gdañsk to Szczecin (country road no. 6). Only 30 km north of Lêbork lies coastal town of Łeba, with fishery port and a yacht marina; and the Słowiñski National Park with moving sand dunes, which are unique in whole Europe.

65 km east of Lêbork lies Tricity (agglomeration of joint cities of: Gdañsk, Sopot and Gdynia), and 55 km west of Lêbork lays Słupsk. The nearest maritime port is Gdynia, 60km from Lêbork, and the nearest airport is in Gdañsk, which is distant about 80 km.

LANDSCAPE VALUES

The town possesses undoubted landscape and nature values. From south and north Lêbork is surrounded by partly forested slopes of moraine hills with wavy land sculpture. Forests take approximately 20% town area. About 4km east from Lêbork, surrounded by forests, lies lake Lubowidzkie, and the navigable river Łeba with its side stream called Okalica, runs through the town itself.

The hydrographic circuit is enriched by mill canal and several ponds developed in parts of loam excavation terrain – main mineral wealth of town, which is exploited for masonry brick production.
